I was watching the President of British Petroleum (BP) on a recent televised interview concerning the massive disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. He reminded me of Simon on American Idol and all of the other pompous Brits on American TV.
Then I thought back on British history…they have ALWAYS been like that. If there is a gene for arrogance and ignorance…these people have it. BP stated, through a network of BIG oil lackeys that they would have the massive disaster “under control” as soon as possible. No time limit or even a hint of one. Then I think that some Brit in the past, when the British empire started heading south, told the King of England that they would get the uprising “under control”. When the local population in what is now known as Zimbabwe (formally Rhodesia) told the Brits, “screw you”…some guy told the Queen they would have the situation “under control”.
